During my pregnancy, I noticed a lot of changes in my life and personality. It is all too true that your smells change (I couldn't STAND the smell of my dish drain....what??), your temperament changes, and for me, my center of balance was knocked off-kilter. I've been a dancer and gymnast most of my life, so grace and balance was always a natural thing for me. Since about my 4th month of pregnancy, when I was starting to show ( as my bones in my hips and back were shifting) I noticed a very annoying trait starting to rear its ugly head. I was dropping and spilling EVERYTHING.
Though hormones and temperament eventually return to their original state, and family and friends stop ducking and covering after making a friendly comment that could possibly be construed as constructive criticism, your bones are forever changed, and your hips permanently widened. For me, larger hips was a good thing, but the furniture was suffering from my new-found center of gravity.
The last straw was when I dropped a large glass of Merlot on our new Berber carpet. Needless to say I rushed to the computer and looked up ways to remove such obscene stains... before my husband got home, but even though I tried the majority of the day to scrub it out, it seemed to just get bigger.
He didn't freak out, he just demanded we get some new absorbent materials to cater to my little problem. And... that he would serve the wine from now on. So I returned to the computer and looked up online absorbents. There's TONS of new technology out there to cover everything from the recliner to the bed spread to my biggest trouble area, of course, the floor.
So I can't pretend that I'm cured from being a klutz, or even be sure that my finesse will return to me any time soon, but at least I'll have some absorbents to arm my house from my little problems...
